The Villagers beat Richmond Town 3-0 with a great first half performance!

In a game that few expected Wolviston F.C. to get a result when travelling to Richmond Town but they defied the odds to come home with all 3 points. The game opened very quickly and within 7 mins both teams had an effort on goal with firstly James Dowson for Wolviston firing wide followed mins later with Adam Walker doing the same thing for Richmond Town. Home keeper Scott Leeming made a very good save to stop a strong shot from James Webb finding the back of the net. The visitors did however go in front on 9 mins when Webb crossed to the far post and found Famara Jatta who smashed home a strong 15 yard angled drive. With Wolviston now in the ascendancy Dowson found Scott Ryan but he snatched at his shot and blazed over. On 30 mins Jatta won the ball passed to Ryan who dummied which allowed James Webb the space to nudge home from close range to increase the visitors lead. In reply at the other end Wolvo keeper Elliott Coils had to be alert to tip away a James Muir effort for a corner. With a minute remaining good football between Dimitri Kehi and Robbie Gratton resulted in James Webb crashing home Wolvistons 3rd with an acute angled shot. In the 1st min of added on time a first time volley from Gratton brought out a fine save from keeper Leeming.
H.T. 0-3
They say football is a game of 2 halves and this proved to be just so with a very determined Richmond Town dominating most of the play to try to rescue something from the game. Within a minute of the half opening Coils was called into action once again this time denying Tafari Nicholls with another acrobatic save. The busy visiting goalkeeper had to be alert in the 75th min with a long range effort from Chris McNab which he finger tipped away for a corner. With Richmond pushing and pushing Coils made another double save first by denying Nicholls and then stopping Tom Carnegie-Brown from tapping home the rebound. With Wolviston comfortably playing the game out they became worthy winners with that stunning first half performance.
