Wolviston F.C. were facing unknown opposition in Consett Blackfyne who have just recently joined the Wearside League from the Northern Conbination. The only knowledge Wolvo had of them was that they were unbeaten in 2 seasons of competition football so it was going to be a learning curve for both teams. Wolvo quickly took the lead after only 8 mins when a great through ball from Robbie Gratton over the Consett defence found Callum Blair who kept his head and delicately stroked home under the diving body of visiting keeper Patrick Crombie. 2 mins later it was that man Blair who tried a strong angled drive which smashed off the bar with Crombie well beaten. In a counter attack Consetts Callum Natrass found himself clear but Richard Cass in the Wolvo goal made a fine save in the 20th minute. On the half hour an accurate free kick from Stewart Bath was brilliantly tipped over the bar by keeper Crombie. Wolvo increased their lead in the 37th min after a strong shot from Blair ricocheted off Josh Thornton to go into the bottom corner.
H.T. 2-0
Consett came a little more into the game in the 2nd period and Matty Burns brought a superb save from Cass who brilliantly tipped his effort over the bar. Consett pulled a goal back in the 65th min when a free kick taken by Callum Forster eluded the Wolvo defence and fell to Liam Ridley who swept home. On 67 mins a long clearance from Cass bounced over the Consett defence and the ball fell to Jamie Roberts who made no mistake from 20 yard to re establish a 2 goal cushion. On 70 mins good football by Roberts was rewarded when his final pass found Callum Blair who took the ball forward and coolly slotted home from 15 yards. A minute later Blair found himself clear and with his hat trick beckoning he lobbed the keeper but his effort went over the bar. Man of the match Callum Blair made amends 3 mins later to receive a cross from sub Colin Oates when he ran at speed to side foot home the pass to record his hat trick. With 5 mins remaining Lewis Snaith snatched at his shot and put his effort wide. With only 2 mins remaining good work by Snaith was rewarded when his shot cannoned off the bar and fell to Colin Oates who swept home from close range.
F.T. 6-1
