Looking to continue their quest for vital points in the League Wolviston FC had no idea what was about to hit them. Shildon started very quickly and Curtis Curl saw his shot go narrowly wide in the opening mins. Wolvo replied with a cheeky back heel towards goal from Callum Blair which also went wide of the post. With the game swinging end to end a shot from Shildons Gideon Kanyondo went high followed at the other end by a header from Elliot Mavi also going over the cross bar. This was followed by two shots from the Villagers from Jae Wilson and Elliott Pledger both of which missed the target. At the other end visiting keeper Alex Carey made two saves in quick succession, first to deny Noah Ellis then stopping a shot with his legs from Harri Lynch. The visitors took the lead on 30 mins when an excellent cross from Bailey Geldhart found David Johnson at the far post to head powerfully home. 3 mins later a snapshot from Blair caused home keeper Elliot Finch to save with his feet.
H.T. 0-1
What happened in the 2nd period had to be seen to be believed as Wolvo had 3 clear goal scoring opportunities to increase their lead but sadly each one not hitting the target. First Jamie Roberts found himself clear but as he tried to round the keeper he was pushed wide and lost possession. Secondly Elliott Pledger received a pass from Roberts but Finch smothered the ball low to his left. Thirdly after a spot of ping pong in the Shildon defence the ball fell to Blair but his final shot was blocked. With 2 mins remaining and Wolviston running the clock down it came as a surprise when a corner taken by Shildons Bailey Jones fell to Curtis Curl who bundled home to bring the railway men level. Then incredibly with the last kick of the match a hopeful lob into the box by Owen Bleasdale evaded everybody to sneak into the top corner to give Shildon an unexpected winner.
