Knowing they were in for a tough game Wolviston F.C. took the strongest squad available to South Moor to play in the quarter final of the Durham Trophy Cup. The home side started on the front foot and visiting keeper Alex Carey had to be alert to make a fine save from Kevin Humble. 5 mins later a diving header from man of the match Jeremie Anderson da-Costa went agonisingly wide. On 21 mins Callum Blair passed to Jamie Roberts who turned but sadly shot wide in Wolvos first attack. Moor took a punt on a long range effort by Jamie Gordan which sailed over the cross bar. The home side however took the lead a minute later when a cross from Josh Cook found da-Costa at the far post to power home from 10 yards. On 33 mins with Moor dominating the game it came as no surprise to repeat the goal event with Cook once again crossing for da-Costa to prod home from close range. Just before the half ended a shot from Blair created panic in the Moor defence but after several attempts the ball was eventually cleared.
H.T. 2-0
The second period was only 2 mins old when Moor scored once again, this time a good ball from Riley Smith found Conor Randall who burst forward and smashed home from 15 yards. On 53 mins good approach work by Wolvo should have been rewarded when a cross from Ewan Mitchell was pushed wide by Lewis Snaith. A Jamie Roberts shot on 60 mins was parried by sub keeper Owen Quinn with Wolviston trying to rescue the game. With 15 mins remaining a shot from Lewis Snaith was blocked by Kyle Fazakerley to prevent Wolvo from scoring a consolation goal. It was the same player Snaith with 5 mins remaining who found himself clear after receiving a pass from Jae Wilson but sadly pushed his effort wide.
