With a weakened squad and without a recognised goalkeeper Wolviston F.C. travelled to i2i international soccer academy. Utility player Josh Thornton went between the sticks and the defence had 2 midfielders in the centre but started very well organised. The first shot from either team came from Wolvo with Callum Blair shooting from distance which sadly went high and wide. In reply on 17 mins a cross from the left by Fateh Abdallah fell to Tyler Long who failed to make contact at the near post. i2i took the lead on 23 mins after trickery down the right by Long was rewarded when his cross was crashed home by Nathan Andrietti. On 31 mins good work by Wolvo new boy Jake Geary nearly came to fruition when his final pass found Blair whose quick snap shot was confidently held by home keeper Cole Citarella. i2i increased their lead on 39 mins after a shot from Ziyad Lahbabi hit Wolvos Ewan Mitchell and the ball ricocheted off Tyler Long into the net. Wolvos misery continued with 3 mins remaining after a foul by Stewart Bath gave away a free kick on the edge of the box which Kalugi Cowan despatched accurately into the bottom corner to give i2i a 3 goal half time cushion.
H.T. 3-0
Whatever the manager Paul Larkin and coach Stewart Bath said at half time seem to have worked wonders as they came out in the 2nd half in a determined state of mind. Within a minute they pulled back a goal after a defensive blunder allowed Lewis Snaith to pass to Callum Blair who simply knocked into an empty net. Within a minute i2i regained their 3 goal cushion when Ziyad Lahbabi crashed home an absolute beauty into the top corner. Then miraculously Wolvo turned the game on its head with 3 goals in the final 35 mins. Firstly a throw out from keeper Josh Thornton found Geary who in turn passed to Callum Blair who steadied his aim to unleash a strong shot into the net to reduce Wolvos arrears. Down at the other end keeper Thornton made a tremendous save to prevent sub Tristan Severin from scoring. Great interplay in the 73rd min involving Bailey Geldhart, Robbie Gratton and new boy Lee Roberts ended with the latters hard cross being turned into the net by man of the match Blair to record a well deserved hat trick. With their spirits high they repeated the former act 3 mins later but this time it was Blairs final cross that found sub Liam Enderwick to bundle home Wolvos deserved equaliser.
